I'm pink and a little fried, but still smell good.

Some lovely and some fried pics of pink and fragrant Oleander flowers. Shots taken one or two seasons ago from our personal pots. I was a little late on taking their pics at the time. Maybe I was lazy that day or just really busy. Still couldn't resist taking pics of them even if they were in an imperfect state.

Garden Buddies

This time around we have these two lovely garden buddies for feature presentation. Of course my latest sunflower plants have yet to get to maturity so in case you guessed, these are from two years ago. Thought the pics of my sunflower and its buddy the pea plant looked pretty cool. The lighting that day was really dramatic so I took several pics at different angles. Plus it kind of makes you feel like a little busy bee from that close up view. Over all I was inspired by the folk tale of "the three sisters". So, every year I plant my version in my share of the garden pots. In the pots I first plant a sunflower seed, then I put in a small amount of carrot and dill weed. Evenly distributing them in the pot so that the carrots will grow big and not piddly. Last but not least I plant a couple of pea seeds when the sunflower is at least 5 inches tall or maybe taller, but sometimes only one comes out. By the end of the year, in Sept or Oct I'll have these lovely colourful and sweet crunchy carrots to enjoy and share not featured here. YUM!😋

 

 

 

Sweet pink miscellaneous blossomes.

 Got some more pics of spring flowers. Taken from 2 season ago and now maybe 3 years ago. I'm behind as usual. Sigh..... But still, a sweet, sweet taste of the coming spring isn't so bad in the dead of winter, whether bad or mild. Winter still bites after all!

Not sure what this bush is called but every year we get these really showy flowers that attract all kind of bees on them. Mainly bumble bees. I would imagine some humming birds too. After all, they have a nice trumpet shaped flower that might be attractive to them. These are from a bush near my pond taken about late June. I have another bush in the front. This year they probably won't be as showy as I did a thorough trimming of all the bushes and most of the trees on our property. Not sure what to do with our, out of control ceder trees. They have now pretty much taken over the back yard. I believe they are contributing to the deterioration of all those brick and masonry fence posts that my previous cat use to enjoy. Quite frankly its beginning to look a lot like the secret garden despite my maintenance. If only I had people to help me out. Sigh......

None the less please enjoy my showy blossoms. 

Spring for a few silver dollars.

 Took these two years ago in the early spring, of course. 😛Those were slightly more cheerier times cause that's when I had my little sunshine Meetso. 😞

Well anyways these are some lovely silver dollar blossoms before they get their distinctive silver dollar looking seed pods? Or are the called something else? But they're definitely silver dollar flowers. Didn't get as many this year though. Just as well. 

Lovely purple spring of last year.

 Thought a post a "catch up" post relating to last year's spring. Sorry. But I post when I can. 

A few pics of our lovely crocuses from last year. This year they weren't as nice. But every year you have something that can catch the eyes. This year it seems our little cherry tree seems to be the star of the show. I ended up picking and cleaning ten cups worth of sour cherry beauties. But I won't be making jam from them this year. Cherry jam is not that popular in our household. Still delicious though. 

As for more images and recent ones, maybe eventually I'll get to the summer images. Eventually! 😛

 

 

Happy yellow snap dragons.

 Some lovely yellow snap dragons that grew in our container of strawberry plants last summer. Some how the seeds from a small pot I placed near by, fell into the containers I guess. They were pretty showy so I snapped a few pics. The plants survived long into January if you can believe it. Very unusual for where I live. But I don't think they'll make it to spring since we're heading for an extreme deep freeze this weekend. Bummer! That would have been so cool! I was really rooting for those buttery popcorn looking blossomy plants. They also remind me of scrambled eggs in which I'm making alot of lately. 

 

 Its amazing to me that you can still find beauty in the chaos of our "dumpy" back yard.

Its almost spring?

 Alright! Its almost spring! .................................................In a few months. Sorry. 😁But seriously, its never too early for spring. Positive thinking people!  So in the mean time here's some lovely pics I took of our blue wisteria in a fresh spring bloom, last season. It was just loaded with carpenter bumble bees with desperate males following carefully behind the females.  So needy and always fighting for the rare and in high demand girl. A total opposite of what people in China have to deal with. 

Btw if you have any loose lumber hanging around your property, it is just as much like candy to them as are the flowers. The females build little hives into the wood, carving almost perfect door ways into them and then lay their eggs. They don't even use tools. Just their little pin sized brains, teeth and diligence. Amazing! 

Just as amazing, the little community they make in those pieces of loose lumber. Some info. 

 

 

 

 

The Safflower of my eye

Last season of course I decided to plant some safflower seeds in one of many pots we have here. Mostly they contain oleanders but a few have some various citrus trees and even a few fig trees. Nice and not so nice when indoors in the garage. Try looking for hiding pet doves that don't wanna go in just yet. That's where we keep them when the weather is just too cold. 
So yeah I thought I was going to end up with some beautiful orange flowers but instead of orange I got a whole lot of yellow. OK I don't mind too much but they look a lot like dandelions so why bother. But in the end I did get some more seeds to feed my doves. I guess they come in more colours then just orange. Oh well. 

The butterfly bush or weed

Just some lovely pics I took last year of my butterfly bush/weed. They had finally made it to blossoming after many seasons of frustrations. First I just couldn't get the seedlings to survive after insects and other critters ate them in the small pots. Or was it just not the right type of soil? Not sure but the next year I decided to use a soil that wasn't loaded with compost. That was successful. There were other problems after that too. By the time I tried again in another season I was left with one successful seedling that actually grew enough to be planted.  Good thing, I was only left with one last seed. So after I planed it and it grew to a nice plant, thinking it was just another weed, my dad nearly killed it off. I was pretty disappointed at my dads kill happy hands. Well another season goes by and in the spring I get a surprise. The plant came back and this time later in July I think with a crown of beautiful bright orange blossoms. So pleased that finally after my hard work and persistence I finally got my butterfly bush. 
So far it really hasn't attracted any butterflies but a few hover flies and other things.
This year it made even more blossoms and the only thing it managed to attract were lots and lots of aphids with their keepers the ants and one ladybug. No seed pods this year because of the infestation. 
Oh well there's always next year. 😏

Last years flowers.

I wonder how many more years online bloging will be around. It seems every time I come here every one is always Instagraming or something. Meh.  Me I'm quite fine here, thanks. 

Anyways I'm tired from having to complete many things such as errands, preparing things, clean, being stressed out about things and est. Its Jam season after all. So I'm just going to show some nice pics of flowers I took with my old digital camera last year. Yep more leftovers. But don't worry I actually have some newer pics of my kitty and critter friends. Well actually cat dinner. But you know? ;)

Not sure what these flower weeds are but they sure were pretty growing in a field, The yellow ones mind me of snap dragons and the purple remind me of sweet pea. 
It was windy that day so the images turned out a bit blurry.

Purple Trinity Flower

Well-p its officially fall. Thank God that its still summer warm. For now. But don't fret, its only a few more months till spring. The lucky ones who don't have to wait till then can just migrate south or you can hibernate like a bear. But don't, were not bears. Our bodies will make us pay for that as some of us know too well. Best thing to do is when it gets too cold outside is do a bit of exercise indoors when of course you're finished shoving the snow.

Enough of that depressing news well maybe a bit of anxiety inducing news instead. For some of us anyways. Besides the busy summer of yard work and other personal stuff, it was a stressful summer for my poor kitty Meetso yet again. Apparently he was getting to much calcium in his diet. Um no I wasn't drowning him in cow's milk, but I did give a bit to him as a treat now again. But apparently I was giving him inferior cat food. Its a major brand but I won't mention it unless you ask me in privacy.

I'm guessing it had way too much bone meal and other crap but I figure it still had some redeeming qualities for the price I had to pay. Guess not. Who knew that a can of animal guts with some vitamins thrown in for good measure, at times costs more then a can of tuna. I always thought those things were over priced. But then I also gave him tuna on occasion too as a treat. Maybe a combination of that set him off as well. So now for his main food, he gets the vet office brand. A 50/50 combination of dry food and a very boring flavoured with chicken, wet cat food. Chicken btw is his least favourite food. He still manages. He's a good kitty.

Since the crazy July he recently had a small blip. He got sick from a rabbit he decided to catch for dinner and eat whole. He left nothing but a few dark coloured guts. Yes he even ate the head.

The rabbit on the other hand had its revenge going down. In Meetso's haste to eat his prize, the bones in the meat I guess scraped his throat or maybe a small piece logged in there. But I think not. None the less, he lost his meow and his appetite. Took him a few weeks to recover. Some of the recovery took place in my bed room a few times in the form of big dark coloured hair balls with bits of grass in the smelly mix. Thank God it looks like he's now back to his normal cuddly self. That is until next time. Oh boy.

Now for my find that 's the title for this posting is named after.

Ok so its another wild flower I found. I don't really remember planting it in the corner of the garden but there it is. I probably found it originally in the park and took the seeds home. Just forgot about it until some time in June when it started to bloom. My dad actually thought it was a stray corn plant that grew there from bird seed that was dropped there. Luckily he didn't just pull it out like he usually does. (killed a plant that I was trying to grow for the last 2 years cause he thought it was a weed) Yes its edible, but I think in limited fashion. Not sure what parts, so you are going to have to look it up. How ever it does go by many names but I prefer the one in the title. It makes the most sense to me. A purple flower with three petals. I hope that I can collect the seeds and spread it around to the appropriate areas.
