A metapod was spotted.....

Like something out of a Pokemon show or game, I spotted this little guy in our bean poll patch located in our garden one summer day. So I caught it with my camera. No poke-ball required. Its supposedly the cocoon of a swallow tailed butterfly. Sadly I wasn't around to actually see the little guy emerge out of his little temporary home. But I did manage to collect the empty container of its former home for my reference collection.

 

 If you're wondering, all the kitties are doing fine. Not seeing them as much these days except for Felix since its cold. He usually tucked away in his cat box outside. I have been encouraging Felix to come indoors. The rest of my family has been encouraging him too. But sadly he still has a mistrust of humans no matter how nice our house hold is. Still not giving up thought.

The invasion of the tomato snatchers.

Behold, the creepy squishy and oh so big green tomato caterpillar. Creepy for some. Not really for me. Found the little buggers crawling all over our tomatoes naturally over the summer, turning our plants and the fruit into Swiss cheese. Since then, I found alternatives for them to munch on instead of our tomatoes. Not to mention I like to live and let live if you know what I mean? Of course at the time I let them munch on some extra leaves and stems of our tomato plants to their hearts content. Till they of course turned into moths. I guess not all caterpillars turn into beautiful butterflies.  Surprising the tomato cuttings started to grow into their own plants. Something I didn't know earlier but interesting to know none the less. Another name for the little pests is Tobacco worm. But I prefer the latter.  I found out that they also enjoy our night shade weeds so since then I've been feeding that to them. They're welcome to them any day cause you know, they're weeds. 

In the pics it looks like they're munching on our geraniums. But because the tomato plants were so long in the half cut water bottles and I kept them close to the flowers, it made them look like they were enjoying them too.  Not true. Its the tomato plans they were after. None the less they really look pretty among the geraniums even if they're not eating them.

Anyways an update on the mama cat. Our timing was finally right and we caught her a few weeks ago. Surprisingly, its much easier to catch a stray cat then it is to catch a person. Afterwords I tried to contact our local humane society. I couldn't even get a person on a phone as to the regards of our kitty catch. Yeah our HS sucks! But I guess it might have to do with our many institutions that are grossly underfunded. Shame! I guess its another sign of the times. So for plan B I made contact with our former vet that I used for our late kitty Meetso. Thomasina got all "fixed" up and no more potential kitten explosion. Which is a good thing since we have a lot of bad neighbours that would love to do something vile to those poor kittens not to mention all those poor cats. That's not how we treat life. We respect it. All life deserves to have a life and not just dogs. Even the vilest such as some of my neighbours. Anyways yeah we had to keep her in the cage/trap for another 24 hours after her surgery and she was free to go. Before her surgery she had to be in there for a day and night till her appointment. Couldn't have been pleasant being in her own mess all night. Luckily she just peed a little and it was easy to clean up. At least the closet downstairs  where we kept her was pleasantly warm despite it being in the basement. I guess she saved the pooping for later. 😵😁 After she was freed, she did come back a few days later but has a bit of a long road for things to be back to normal. It was after all traumatizing. But soon enough she'll be back to her old self maybe even closer to our little family.

A butterfly in the park.

 And we're back. This time featuring this lovely butterfly in the park. Hence the animal I referred to in the last post.  Its some type of swallow tail. You can look it up. 😁

Found this little beauty in the park one day on a walk. Luckily I just happen to have my camera.

Beautiful but a real pest during its caterpillar time. They just love dill weed, parsley and other related plants.

I took the pic close to a church yard of the park, some time two years ago? 

 Would have loved to have gotten closer but with limitations of a old camera, you do what you can. 

Next time a very unusual scene in the park. Maybe a bit creepy!.........👀

A memorial to my dear Meetso.

Gone way too soon my little cuddle bug. Sep 20 2022. Early Tuesday morning.

In a world full of dark hearten people you were my ray of sunshine. You never pushed me away like people tend to do.

You loved to give and get cuddles. I gave you many treats and special foods despite certain foods that were off limits. You kept me warm on my bed like a hot water bottle.

You knew how to say “nom-noms” and you knew what it meant. You knew what the word “treats’ meant and you knew it was something special. You had a lovely robust purr of a male cat that intensified when I scratched and stroked you just so. You followed me everywhere like a lamb and even ate the sweet blades of grass growing in odd places near the flowers. You loved your catnip box and slept in it like Garfield. You loved to play games such as chase the thrown and bounced food kibble. Chasing the lazar pointer light and even a simple bamboo stick under a sheet or sticking behind the closet door and then you pounced on it or pawed it. You loved my homemade fluffy pompoms. They were lots of fun. You loved the rubber mice I had placed underneath my record cabinet. You'd pretend to catch an evading mouse. But shoes gave you the creeps. I saw you often taping them cautiously with you big fluffy paws. Might be a giant centipede under there?

You had soft orange and white fur on your stomach, softest as the softest cotton. You had a long fluffy tail like a dusting wand. You plucked it every spring till your tail resembled a fluffy lions tail to keep it neat and tidy, free from debris and knots. You had lovely back fur that stood on end gave you a porcupine look when defending your honor. Your back end featured lovely curly white hair. Unusual for a pussycat. You had big muscular white paws even though dainty hid deadly claws. But you kept them in for cuddles. Your head was shaped like a tiger's with main included. The white triangle on your face was one of your unique features that made you stand out. You always smelled like fresh Landry and your feet occasionally like corn chips. Even though you were a grown cat you will always be my little kitten. During the day, you remained in your little back yard domain. Your little backyard jungle domain. Sleeping the day away or excitedly chirping at your favourite birds in the trees and bushes. Occasionally you rocket up a bush or tree. Did you catch a snack? I wonder? You chilled off near our pond watching the colourful fish. At night you love to hang out on top of our house roof. Spotting owls, bats and nighthawks as they flew by or catching dinner. Sometimes you loved yourself a snack and would announce yourself with a meow near my bedroom window. Occasionally you like to tour the neibourhood at night while everyone is a sleep. Painting the town yellow. But now you are over the rainbow bridge with all the other former feline friends. Some feathers friends too and even a few scaly ones as well. I hope I get to see you all again where it never gets cold. Full of welcoming swaying palm trees. He says see you later and thanks for all the fish…..🐟

I say Thanks for all the cuddles, purrs and gentle biscuits of love and most of all, being my best furry friend.💔😭 BestFuryFriendForever!🕊

Stretching out to Spring

 Just in time for early spring, which was when these photos of Meetso were taken only last year. What else is new. Just wish I could have shot them a bit better. But again it was a spur of the moment thing. After all, animals don't stay in one place for long. Meetso decided to have a good stretch on the small green house. If I was a cat, I'd probably do the same thing. Its no "stretch" of the imagination after all. 😉

 

What do you see?

 Hello world. I'm back. Its been awhile I know. Just been busy with lots of stuff. Especially with a personal project that I have been working on for almost about half a year I think. I made it to the "putting colour on illustrations part" of my stuff. Hopefully can can finish this as soon as possible along with some editing of other things. 

For my avatar on the side over there, Not going to bother to change it for now since its almost spring anyways. 

Anyways we have this lovely pic of my dirty dish. I had just finished eating a slice of blueberry pie or was that cheese cake?  Oh well, yeah its been awhile since it was last year I took that pic.  To what was left behind, really caught my eye. I don't know about you, but I see a beautiful image of a graceful long necked bird. What do you see? 

I think I'll keep the image and when I get around to it, might draw it out. Maybe I'll find more of these "ink blots". 😊

 

Pecking out a message.

 And its back to winter yet again. The weather is very much bipolar lately. 

Took this lovely wood peckers pic last season of course. It was sometime in September and I happened to be outside enjoying the last of the pleasantly warm weather before the grim stuff comes along. I kept hearing this strange rattling sound coming from some place but couldn't quite figure out where exactly. And no I didn't think it was a rattle snake. Those are rare around here. But yeah we have those. No, I actually though it was the neighbor doing something in the back yard or playing a trick. So I continued to listen as it still make that rattling sound what ever it was. Eventually I determined that it was coming from the bushes that surround our little pond. Sound tends to bounce around in that area because of all those bushes and the noise of the water fall doesn't help to determine direction either. So I decided to look around in the bushes and low and behold I saw the little wood pecker going to town on a old and spent yucca flower stem. I left it behind and forgotten about it but I usually clip those off when they're finished flowering. So anyways he or she must have found some tasty grubs in those and as the little guy pecked away at the stem. The sound of the rattle noise must have come from the seed pods themselves and so that's why it made the sound of a rattle. Sorry about the quality of the photos but its the best I can do with an old digital camera. Still it is a pretty cool pic. Thanks for viewing! 

 

 

Not imPossumable

A curious possum visits my yard, one night in August of last year. He decided to climb the terris covered in blue wisteria vines. Not sure if its the same possum but we usually get one every so often. Its probably due to the old propane barbecue covered in decades of rotisserie grease. I really don't know why, there is always an issue with getting things clean around here or to even have modern enmities but it is the ways it is. I really don't understand much about this life and family of mine even after living with them a life time. I just shake my head and just go on with my sometimes confusing and complicated life. But at least moments like these take some of the sting out of it doesn't it? Always nice to get some unusual moments you don't see every day. 

Anyways here's some pics of this curious fellow. My cat was there too. But he usually doesn't do anything and just watches our strange pouched company. If anything he just wonders when will our company leave so he can leave his mark on his many scratching posts. 😜😸

 

Its almost spring?

 Alright! Its almost spring! .................................................In a few months. Sorry. 😁But seriously, its never too early for spring. Positive thinking people!  So in the mean time here's some lovely pics I took of our blue wisteria in a fresh spring bloom, last season. It was just loaded with carpenter bumble bees with desperate males following carefully behind the females.  So needy and always fighting for the rare and in high demand girl. A total opposite of what people in China have to deal with. 

Btw if you have any loose lumber hanging around your property, it is just as much like candy to them as are the flowers. The females build little hives into the wood, carving almost perfect door ways into them and then lay their eggs. They don't even use tools. Just their little pin sized brains, teeth and diligence. Amazing!
