Thought I make a comic based on one of my cartoons. I'll probably make more in the future. I'm posting it in here since I would imagine more people visit in here. One step forward 2 steps back

Great news, my small illustrations got accepted at this one illustration place. Yay and that means I’ll be making some much needed cash.

Bad news, my little baby doves died. Sigh….. :( I suspect it was because it might have been the cold night we had yesterday. I found them squashed in the nest, with one of them barely alive. Probably the male as usual tried to keep the other doves out other then his favorite female but then I guess he gave up. They were so close to coming out of the nest, just opened their eyes and had already grown some of their feathers. Sigh….. what can you do. :`(

I think next time I’m in that situation I’ll try to find the surrogate dove parents their own place and hopefully they can succeed.

The fruit thats says I love you, that is, if you had some one to give it to. I found this weird strawberry a few nights ago while fixing my self a fruity bowl of cut up strawberry's for a snack.

Oh Baby!

The parent doves near my mom's bathroom window successfully raised a family, which has since flown the coop. I still see them occasionally in the bushes below.

Another successful family of baby doves was raised in the front nest. Mom or dad is close by waiting for the opportunity to feed them.
I think they're just about ready to leave the nest.




The third nest closest to my summer doves cage was unsuccessful. Well almost.
I think what happened was he or she lost he or she's mate so was left to fend for its self and the nest.
He/she eventually got off the nest to feed and I thought would never come back. I haven't seen it all day so I thought the nest was abandon. The eggs were intact, so I took the eggs and let my own doves give it a try. I thought " what the heck its worth a try. They sat on them with no problems. I heard that the dove might have come back, but for me to put the eggs back, it was too late.
A few weeks passed and to my surprise they both hatched a few days ago.
So far so good. The babies are currently healthy and are feeding great. The babies seem to be getting allot of attention from the rest of the doves so much so its really upsetting my main boy Mr tangerine. I put him in charge since he is the best and most experienced at those sort of things. I hope that the babies will continue to be healthy and grow so that eventually I can let them go. In the meant time, I shall not touch them as much in order to keep them wild.

As for the robin nesting near the garage, still sitting :D .............

Magnolias
Some lovely pics of white magnolias taken just a few weeks ago from my mom's window.
If you look closely you can see a female cardinal in a tree. Enjoy.

"Hear a nest, there a nest, every where a coo, coo, chirp!"

Wow everywhere I look on the yard this year there are nests. Looks like there are about 3 doves nests and one robin nest as well, not counting the sparrow ones. I guess some bird spread the word on how bird friendly are yard is. And who would blame them, it has water, constant sources of food and plenty of hiding places that's pretty sheltered from the wind but apparently not enough nesting spots. Kind of like a mall with a lack of parking spaces. LOL

Looks like our resident robin came back from his vacation down south. This time he built his nest above our garage on a grape vine.


Some doves took over the old nest out front where our resident robin made a nest last year.


Then there the dove couple that made a nest near my mom's bathroom window.

Last but not least, theres the one near the summer cages for my doves. She is nesting on the honey suckle tarris on some grape vines. You can see her head just peaking from above the whole mess. :D

I hope the nest time I can get some pics of the babies with out scaring them.

Looks like one of the female doves has joined the nest party.

One of my male doves decided that a potted spider plant makes a great nest.
I might have given him the idea for that since that's where I threw in the old eggs.
I replaced those and gave him some fake ones.
I usually make the fake ones out of clay but these ones are made out of some small Easter eggs.

Happy Easter every one, even if it’s a late one. Well maybe not too late for all those Orthodox Christians out there. For me it was a bit of an odd one. On my way to church, I noticed a basketball that some kid probably lost, all alone on the corner of a street a few blocks down from my house. I left it alone since there are lots of children in the neighbour hood that might of lost it. Thinking nothing of it I went to church and on with my day. One or two days later there it was on my yard. It was underneath my dad's trailer. Weird, it’s like it followed me home like a lost kitten or something. :o Clue in Twilight zone music. Haha. Oh and here’s a few pics of a surviving Easter egg a former neighbour gave us. It was one of three. I wanted to take pics of all of them but sadly some people have no restraint. Sigh. :p The eggs were naturally coloured using leaves, onionskin for the colouring and a silk stocking. Not exactly sure as to the exact colouring process. :\

Yeaeee! Spring is here. Soon the colour white will disappear and the many colours of spring will take over. Just like my white sweater, which I had no choice but to colour red. It had a bunch of stains that I just couldn't get out. I already tried the colour remover but the stains just didn't budge. The stuff usually works and even worked with ancient stains too. Most annoying! Oh well, at least now I got a brand new looking sweater. I look better in red anyhow.
Speaking of spring, my doves seem to be in the mood as well and a bit ahead too. One of the male doves took to sitting in one of the large spider plants. I guess he saw the old eggs I threw in there earlier. I removed them and placed some fake ones when I found out. He's enough of a stinker as it is anyways. ;)

I hope every one has a good start to the new year.
As for me ohh boy. For the most part the holidays were pretty boring. We don't have any family here, they'er all over seas. Friends are out of town too and so you know the obvious.
Anyways, I tried to back out the car from the garage and I put a nice little hole in the front bumper because of one of my dads machines lining the walls. I knew, I should have listened to my instincts and not bothered to get off my butt. I was sick that day and the fullness of the garage does not help either. I felt bad for days and I still have a bad feeling over it. It was still after all only a few months old. Sigh.....

Humm the blogger is acting strange again since it won't let me link my user pic as usual. Then again it could be the pic it self thats having the problem since its a pic with a clear background and not black. Yeah, I downloaded it again to check.

Oh and heres a few vacation pics, this time from my dad's camera. Its the old style of camera that actually uses film. It takes great pics, that is when the battery is full. I think the battery was at its end since in most of the shots turned out blurry.

I like to wish every one a peaceful, prosperous and joyous Merry Christmas.
It’s never too late in my book for that. After all Christmas lasts right up to some time after new years for Christians.

My dad used some paper bark for the walls and pond grass for the roof. Something he’s been meaning to do for a few years now. It looks really great. Can’t wait to make some sheep to add to my collection.

All I want for Christmas is my two red shoes. LOL

Who say’s Christmas has to be expensive?
It’s the season of giving so its time to share some link goodies based on some pretty rare Christmas stories and or cartoons I remember from child hood. At the time I found them somewhat corny but then I saw the beauty of the stories. Very unique and un-cookie cutter like compared to the usual fair of Santa Clause related stories.
These are great Christmas stories for the young ones in your life and the kid at hearts such as your selves out there.
First link and story is called the Happy Prince. It’s about a statue that is really not so happy.
There are several ways of downloading this story and bonus it’s free.
It was first introduced to me as a traditional animated story in grade school.
